GROW
This week the students will be finalizing their pen pal letters for the children in Uganda.  They will be hand-carried to Uganda on October 16th.  Some students have been having a hard time thinking of things to share in a letter.  Perhaps chat with your student to help him or her think of some additional topics.  Also, students may bring fun pens to write with, stickers, stamps, etc… to help make their pen pal letter colorful and cheerful.

MAP Details and Schedule
Fall MAP is starting up for the entire school, but will begin next week for 5th grade. Just a reminder, MAP is the standardized testing used at West Hills to track student growth as they continually learn more. To ensure results that accurately reflect student knowledge, it is important that each student has plenty of rest, has a good breakfast and lunch, and does not have interruptions (i.e. doctor appointment) during the time of their tests. Also, due to the testing schedule for our room this year, please make every effort to be on time to school, rather than a bit late.  Let me know if you have any questions about the following schedule for our class:
MAP Testing Schedule for our classroom:
Monday, Oct. 9 8:20-9:20
Tuesday, Oct. 10 8:20-9:20
Wednesday, Oct. 11 9:30-10:30
Thursday, Oct. 12 12:50-1:50

2017-2018 Theme Verse:
Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.  Phil. 2:1-2
