October 2 Newsletter

WEEK FIVE     October 2, 2017

Another great week in the books and this one closes September.  This upcoming week begins October for all of us and includes our first field trip on Friday! An email was sent to all class families regarding this fun field trip.  Please remember to dress for the weather that day.
Have a great week!

  • No school Friday, October 13th.  (Teacher In-Service Day)
  • School picture make-ups and retakes are happening October 17th.

Pray
In chapel this week we learned that prayer is like three things
1. Headphones - because prayer helps us focus on and listen to God.  When we take the time to pray, all the other "noise" of the world gets quiet, so that we can be better listeners.
2. Armor - because prayer protects us and prepares us for all that we face in the world.  Just as a firefighter doesn't go into a fire without a helmet and fireproof clothes, we need prayer to protect us as we walk through trials.
3.Power source - because prayer connects us to God.  Just as a phone will die if it doesn't get charged periodically, we, too, will run out of "juice" if we are not recharging through prayer.
Please continue to pray for our class as you feel led.

Learn  This upcoming week we will be working on...
Bible =  we will begin learning about Abraham
Math  = Algebra and we will prepare for our first math test
SS / Geography = Review land forms
Language Arts = Begin our first novel study, The Cay, by Theodore Taylor

Grow
I so excited to share our upcoming, year-long service project with the kids.  We will begin talking about this opportunity to learn, grow, and serve very soon!
